If you own your own website or you have a page supplied by a program, growing website traffic will be one of the keys to your success. You need a growing, self-generating stream of website traffic and plenty of it. Preferably free and preferably preconditioned to buy your product of service
Directories
Directories are website listings. The trick is to find a directory which receives huge volumes of website traffic. Start by applying for listings in Yahoo, DMOZ and Looksmart. These are huge portals with significant website traffic. Getting listed isn’t easy but once achieved you will see a significant lift in your website traffic. Look at other directories but make sure they have a good traffic rating (use Alexa).
Traffic Exchanges
Every website you view in a traffic exchange generates credits which are exchanged for views of your site. This website traffic is free and can be generated almost instantly. The more sites you view the more people visit your website and the more your website traffic grows.
Article Writing
One of the most effective methods of generating website traffic. Best of all its free. Magazines, Ezines and Webmasters are always looking for fresh content. Just write an article on any topic which interests you, optimize it for keywords and be sure to include your website URL in the bio line at the bottom of the article. Then submit it to ezine directories on the web. This will generate website traffic and create backlinks to your site, which in turn helps with search engine rankings.
Search Engine Optimization
Making sure your website is search engine friendly will certainly help grow your website traffic. Ensure all the meta and alt tags are completed, optimize the text for your chosen keywords, ensure there is an H1 header, update your robots.txt, update your google sitemap and ensure google is alerted each time you make a change. There are a number of sites which provide a “spider simulation†which shows you what your site looks like to a spider and what you can do to improve its search engine ranking.
Blogs
Ensure your blog is located on your site, that it links to your key pages and that you ping each time your blog is updated. A regularly updated blog will attract readers which in turn builds website traffic.
If you have some time on your hands then a paid to post arrangement might work as a way to generate a few extra dollars. There are a number of ways this can work. A here are a few to get started:
Forum Posting – When a forum owner wants to get his forum up and running or needs specialist contributors they will pay people to post knowledgable and useful contributions. An example is ForumBoosting.com, a Forum Posting Firm established in October 2005. I’m told payout rates range from 0.11 to 0.09 USD per post. Payment is made when you have reached at least $10.00 in posting, and will be implemented with an immediate paypal money order. If interested, sign in at their forums and follow the instructions
Paid To Blog – Here the blog owner will pay for contributions to their blog. Could be they are going away for a while, want to write about a topic they are unfamiliar with or just want more material for their blog. You can expect to be paid anywhere from $9.00 to $20.00 per 500 word page.
Keep an eye on the Digitalpoint forum in the Content section, the ProBlogger JobNet and Weblogsinc
PayPerPost – Thirdly, here is a newer idea which is getting a bit of attention. The site is called PayPerPost
This one works the other way. You get paid to post material to your blog.
Advertisers will post Opportunities, from a simple “link back to this site” to product reviews with pictures. Each Opportunity will have different compensation based on the advertiser. It’s up to you to pick the Opportunities that best suit you. If it doesn’t feel right, if you don’t own the product, or if you can’t be honest they ask you to pass on the Opportunity.
Once you have selected an Opportunity, create a post on your blog, paying attention to the Opportunity requirements the advertiser requested. Then submit the direct link back to them. Their team will review the content and either approve or deny the post. If it is denied, you will be given a chance to revise and resubmit. Once approved, the clock starts ticking. Your post must remain live on your blog for 30 days.
After 30 days if the post is still there and meets the criteria you are paid straight into your Paypal account. Pay rates seem to range from $3 to $20 per post.
we are agreed that you want to cut Google out of the loop whether you are a content site creator or the seller of a product or service; right? How?
Well, first of all you will nead to learn the skills of the other side. They aren’t difficult whichever side of the fence you are on. If you are a content site creator, you can pick up InfoProdCreation.com and have your own product 35 hours from now with 5 hours of work. If you are a seller of a product or service, you already have the skills to create content sites. Just write articles instead of sales pages and give information instead of trying to sell. Make it a multi-page site instead of a single page sales letter.
And I’m about to give you the secret to traffic delivery from a content site to a traffic site. It’s very simple. Create a home page with only the following elements:
1. A very short 2 paragraph, 3-5 sentence description o your product or service (no selling here).
2. A large (size 6) link that says either “Enter Site†or “Enter Hereâ€. This link leads to your product site.
3. Three smaller links (size 2) on a single line below the above link that lead to the rest of your content site. They can say “Widget Articlesâ€, “Widget Reviewsâ€, “Widget Forum†or whatever types of content you have on your content site… about widgets in this case.
You will find that about 50% of the traffic on a content site eventually ends up at the home page. You will find that about 50% of those that end up at the home page will choose to click the “Enter Site†or “Enter Here†link. You will find that those 25% of the content site visitors (50% of 50%) will be fairly pre-qualified to read your offer. In many, many split tests, this traffic has out-performed Google Adwords traffic.
Have fun and please leave a comment and let me know how much more money you are making with this strategy. I would love to hear from you.
